The Weirton Police Department added three probationary officers to its ranks Friday morning, with a swearing-in ceremony for Brent Williams, Lennon Dietrich and Jacob Hinerman. According to Police Chief Charlie Kush, Williams is originally from Weirton, and previously served three years in law enforcement in Prince William County, Virginia; Dietrich is a Colliers resident and graduate of Madonna High School and West Virginia Northern Community College; and Hinerman is from Weirton and a graduate of Brooke High School and West Virginia University. As Williams has previous experience, he will enroll in a two-week course with the state Police Academy Monday to be certified in West Virginia, while Dietrich and Hinerman will begin initial training in Weirton Monday, then attend the Academy in early 2025. — Craig Howell
